Hydronix selected SAP Business One from LAKE to modernise its ERP system and enhance its inventory management capabilities. SAP Business One was chosen for its ability to adapt to Hydronix's unique business processes and for its superior cost-effectiveness compared to other systems. LAKE was chosen as partner for their exceptional professionalism and dedicated customer support, as exemplified by their seamless interactions and expert service.
Varneet Shukla, Hydronix Production Manager explains the key drivers for the change:
"The ERP system we've been using at Hydronix for nearly 25 years is quite outdated. It lacks the functionalities you'd expect from a modern ERP system.
"To achieve the necessary output, we operate more than 10 ad-hoc database systems. These systems are inefficient and require manual updates, leading to functional gaps and a risk of inconsistencies in data.
"For example, a basic expectation from an ERP system is the ability to generate its own serial numbers, as everything we produce is serialised. Unfortunately, our current system doesn't do this. We rely on a manual register, which means there's no true uniqueness to our products. We use the batch number field as a serial number, but it's editable and lacks secure identity.
"Our current system also lacks the capability to manage repairs. We don't have an integrated RMA system, so we use a separate database to track all repairs. Each return requires a new RMA ticket, unlike in SAP, where everything is linked to the serial number and easily traceable through its entire lifecycle.
"We outsource our manufacturing, and handle inventory management on-site. On receipt of finished products, we have to export the data manually from our current system into another ad-hoc database, and then from that database, we export to the Kardex machine. This largely manual process causes a delay in inventory updates. In SAP Business One, this process will be immediate and automatic, ensuring 100% accuracy in inventory information on a real-time basis."
Varneet, who managed the selection of the new ERP system for Hydronix, explains why SAP Business One stood out from the competition:
"I reviewed about 13 or 14 different ERP systems and SAP Business One stood out from the competition for two main reasons:
1. Most systems, couldn't do everything that we wanted them to do. They lacked flexibility.
2. And those that could do what we wanted, were either too expensive or too complicated for our needs.
"SAP Business One is the perfect combination of flexibility and affordability."
"Moreover, with SAP Business One, I can provide inventory reports in about 10 minutes. In our current system the same sort of report would take a whole day."
Turning his attention to the service provided by LAKE, Varneet makes the following observations:
"It has been wonderful working with LAKE. They have been a pleasure to work with. The entire process from start to finish has been excellent. I know I speak for the entire team at Hydronix when I say there isn't a single person who has anything but praise for the way LAKE have delivered this project to date."
